The breakdown

Available in black or brown, the Tasker is a short cuff cow and goat leather glove that incorporates protective armor in the knuckles. This is a good glove for a cyclist who wants a daily wear leather glove that is also low profile, more like a glove and less like protective gear. I like the understated branding, comfortable fit, and mid-range prices.

Benefits

A superb look that should age well, Indescribable brand / no flash, Fingertips compatible with touch screens, Comfortable

The inconvenients

Can be hot in summer, would benefit from extra armor in the fingers

The weather is already starting to turn here (seriously), and now the Taskers have become the glove of choice for my morning outings. In the height of summer I tend to stick with textile or mesh gloves that allow maximum airflow, but when the needle drops below 48F I’m quick to something. which manages heat better.

The Taskers are short cuff leather gloves, marketed as a two or three season glove (depending on where you live). Priced at $ 80, the Tasker is not very expensive but also not cheaply – they sit comfortably alongside their peers from REV’IT, Icon, Dainese, etc.

The Taskers are the perfect complement to the REAX Jackson jacket I tested a few weeks ago, incorporating the same style and materials. Having now spent many mornings with the Taskers, I have found them to be comfortable, warm and of good quality. Let’s dive in.

Features and overview of the gloves

By RevZilla:

  • Ergonomic pre-curved fit
  • Finger and thumb compatible with touchscreen
  • 100% cowhide leather 0.8mm – 0.9mm thick
  • Durable goatskin palm
  • Palm reinforcement and exterior stitching in digital leather
  • Flexible ribbing on knuckles and back of hand
  • Perforated leather forks
  • TPR finger protection inserts
  • Vibration damping palm pad insert
  • Moisture-wicking poly knit lining
  • Adjustable hook and loop closure
  • Two (2) year warranty on materials and workmanship

Thumb, index and middle fingers use ribbed sections to improve dexterity. This is useful for manipulating the clutch / brake, switches, etc. The fingers are also pre-curved, which contributes to comfort and avoids seams.

Much of the glove is double-stitched, including reinforced sections on the palm, wrist rest and all major seams. There are a few places where the edge is not even, but the impact is 100% cosmetic and only something you will see if you consciously search for it.

The REAX mark appears precisely in two places: on the top of the glove embossed in the leather and on the end of the rubber velcro strip. There are no flashy graphics, contrasting colors or high visibility markings. The Tasker is a stealth glove that packs in some cool features and conveniences.

Build quality

REAX Tasker leather gloves

The Tasker uses a blend of cowhide, goat leather, and polyester in its construction. As Kevin found out in his review of the REAX Ridge gloves, the construction of the Tasker is of good quality, which is good to see considering the nearly top price tag. So far, the two pieces of REAX gear that I have seen in the field have always been well made.

The thickness of the leather varies between 0.8mm and 0.9mm, which is sufficiently protective while still being comfortable to wear. The gloves do not feel thick or obstructive. The upper part of the glove and the fingers use a finer and softer leather; the palm and side of the little finger use thicker and (presumably) more durable goatskin.

Velcro strap – err, hook and loop – secures gloves with confidence. It is far from fragile and I have no doubt that it would remain secure in the event of a crash. This one, along with the rest of the underside of the glove, gives the impression that it could take quite a bit of abuse before letting go.

The fingers are finely grained cowhide leather (for the most part), with the exception of the little finger (which has a reinforced goatskin section) and index / middle finger, which incorporate a flexible section at the- above the knuckles. There is no additional armor sewn into the fingers, only the TPU inserts above the knuckles.

Note the total lack of ventilation on the top of the glove. It’s a godsend and a bust at the same time: great for temperatures like the one I’m living in right now, where I’m riding 12C / 54F and the airflow over my fingers wouldn’t be the best feeling in the morning. world . The Taskers have this under lockdown, don’t worry.

The underside of the gloves has a few perforations: exactly three holes on the palm of the glove, then two or three on each finger.

Comfort and friendliness

REAX Tasker leather gloves

Tasker gloves are comfortable to wear. The polyester inner lining is smooth, and while the Tasker isn’t the most breathable glove on the market, it also handles heat very well.

I started this post by mentioning the fall weather we are experiencing now take advantage. This matters because it’s always the fingers and toes that feel it the most. Because the Tasker has no perforations on the top, no air gets into the gloves and, more importantly, into your precious fingers. If you have heated grips, that’s even better: the Tasker will be a nice compliment.

Nevertheless, these are not gloves intended for cold weather driving. So while I find them ideal for spring / fall temperatures, that doesn’t mean they double as winter gloves.

Using a touch screen with the REAX Tasker glove

Most modern gloves are equipped to interact with your touch devices. The Tasker is compatible with the touch of both index and thumb. It works quite well, although the bulky glove makes it hard to see what you’re doing when typing on a smartphone (for example).

Using your phone’s navigation or music player is nice and easy, but I don’t recommend trying to use your touch device while on the go. Stop, please!

REAX Tasker leather gloves

In my opinion, these gloves fit the size. If you wear a size L in REV’IT or Icon, you will wear a size L in REAX.

In The Tasker, there are a lot of Glove

I love the comfort of the Tasker and the fact that I can wear it early in the morning or late at night without having to worry about freezing my fingers. Gloves got a little warm in the middle of summer, when exits over 90 degrees make pretty much everything on you sweat, but what else do you expect when you buy a glove that doesn’t fit in? superior ventilation?

The feel of the leather is also superior to what I have experienced with other gloves, a soft feel on the top and a very thin appearance. Thanks to the stealthy color scheme, the gloves look premium by default. Let them think it’s just a bonus.

For me, REAX is two for two: I liked the Jackson jacket, with only minor criticisms, and I like the Tasker gloves too. There is a bit of stigma associated with “house brands” – REAX is owned by the parent company of RevZilla – but that stigma shouldn’t apply to REAX. In my experience, REAX is a good thing.
